New blog post – habits and the outcomes – 90 second read.
My last three posts have been on the theme of change. You can view those here:
Power of consistent small changes / A game of motivation and willpower / Win the morning and win the day
For this post I wanted to wrap this theme up, and then I stumbled across an instagram post James Clear had shared.
He’s just released a book called Atomic Habits.
I’ve not read it yet, but I’ve got a feeling it’s worth a look. What I saw summed my last few posts up so well I decided to share some of his words. They may come across a little ‘black and white’ but they’re also straight to the point…here we go:
-Your outcomes (in life) are a lagging measure of your habits.
-Your net (financial) worth is a lagging measure of your spending habits.
-Your weight is a (real life) lagging measure of your eating habits.
-Your knowledge is a lagging measure of your learning habits.
Of course, there’s much you can’t control in life, but habits go a long was in creating the life you lead.
I’m not so bold as to say ‘you must do this’, merely sharing what I have learnt from my own experiences over the past few years – a lot of which came from an 18 month period of travel, change, and adventure – of which I wrote about in my book Adventures In Happiness.
Something to think about? I know I’ve got work to do! But it’s work that is both worthy, and rewarding.
Have a good week.
