A few years ago I would often speak negatively about the UK (and to be honest, I still have my moments!) but recently, something has shifted for me.
Whereas before I saw grey skies and windy days, I now see potential for fun kitesurfing sessions. If I used to see green spaces and hills, I now see potential for getting lost on long hikes and exploration. Where once stood run-down buildings, I now see gritty coffee shops full with people with their own stories.
There’s lots of reasons for this shift and I hint at why I think this may be in my book Adventures In Happiness, but I also think it comes from the mindset of making the most of what’s right in front of you.
Easy to say when you’re lucky to have a place to stay close to the beach / a home in the mountains (if that’s your thing), but the same ‘thinking’ can be applied wherever you are. You just have to make that concious connection, and then reiterate it.
On that note I’m back from three weeks in North Wales, and it was a good mix of ups, downs, and everything in-between.
There was great kitesurfing, good hikes, new people met, and old friends seen. But it wasn’t all sun and roses. The weather was terrible at times, I injured myself kitesurfing, and I spent more time on my own that I wanted. But that’s also what keeps things real.
Have a great weekend!
