Another smidgen of information for you. This one comes from a well respected Hatha yoga teacher I had the fortune to meet on recent travels to India. You can read more about him here: http://sw.swastiyoga.com
Surinder had the ability to not only lead a physical class of movement, but pace it in such a way to include snippets of thought-provoking information. And this was another that stuck with me.
Body lazy, mind crazy. Now, isn’t that the truth!
Some of us can be inherently lazy (perhaps, partly due to managing so many priorities / the fact we don’t have to physically move to survive / working conditions dictate sitting).
It’s also recognised that our minds are very active (perhaps, due to never-ending stimulus / sheer amount of choice available / those clever buggers in social media!).
So, saying all that, there’s obvious benefit in breaking that cycle. But how? And this is where yoga (or many other things) comes in.
First, physical movement to energise the body and snap out of the laziness; second, some relaxtion to let the physical work sink in and give benefit; and third, meditation to allow the mind to settle.
Don’t believe me? Give it a try. I was (and continue to be) pleasantly suprised.
Have a good day.
