About me

After a 21 year career with a global engineering organisation, working across a variety of engineering design, project management, and training and development roles, I took a sabbatical to fulfil one of my lifelong dreams of travelling the world.

So began a journey that led me through Europe and Morocco in a twenty-year-old campervan; backpacking right across South Arica, kitesurfing in Sri Lanka; trekking through the Himalayan mountains, and finally to the busy streets of India.

Along the way I discovered a love of writing and created a blog which developed into a book. I had an ambition to capture my journey and share out what it was like – the GOOD and the BAD. My book is called Adventures In Happiness and you can find out more about that by clicking here. Five years later, it is still selling!

In 2018, once I’d finished travelling, and inspired by my love of nature, wellbeing, and design, coupled with first-hand experience of the benefits of working outdoors, I set up John Clarke Landscaping and Gardens.

It is widely acknowledged that gardens and green spaces are often associated with better physical, social, and mental health, and I enjoy bringing my variety of skills and experiences to create and improve areas for my customers.

Although I don’t get as much time to travel these days, when I do, I’m always on the look out for garden design ideas and best practices and love taking inspiration from nature and the outdoors to incorporate into my customers projects.
